Global English Centre has exceptional facilities and excellent support services for students. GEC values the diversity that international students add to the life of the centre and the city.

The Independent Learning Centre (ILC) at GEC provides an excellent environment for study during and after class. Our teachers are well trained in the use of technology and how best to use it for the teaching of English.
The ILC features:
- computer laboratories with broadband Internet access and TVs for DVD viewing
- a graded readers, audio book and DVD movie library
- a state-of-the-art colour copier for students use in printing, copying and scanning personal, non-class related, documents.
- video production equipment
- teachers on duty to help and advise
Self-Access is supervised afternoon study, between 3:00 – 4:45pm, Monday to Friday. Students have access to the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) and can use computers, listening facilities, borrow books and audio readers, watch DVDs and do their own study/homework. There is a teacher available to help students who have any questions.
The computer laboratories are available for student use before class (8:00am – 9:00am) at break time (10:30am – 11:00am), lunchtime (12:30pm – 1:30pm) and after class (3:00pm – 4:45pm). Students are free to use the computers at these times without a booking. Students may also access the internet using their own lap-top computers and GEC’s Wi-fi connection.
There are student rooms at GEC with:
- information notice boards (accommodation, work, social activities)
- hot and cold drink machines
- snack machines
- student mail collection boxes
- travel information display stands
Student Reception is available to assist students during their stay at GEC:
Social Activities:
- Make enquiries and payment for tour activities and things to do in Kota Kinabalu and Sabah
- Get a copy of the monthly social program
- Borrow sports equipment
General Information:
- Get maps of Kota Kinabalu and Sabah, bus times, and how to get to various locations around Kota Kinabalu
- General enquiries, e.g. Consulates in Kota Kinabalu, doctors/dentists, etc
- Get International Student Cards
- Pick up parcels
- Jobs Board enquiries
- Collect mail or parcels
GEC Information:
- Enrol, extend, and pay for study
- Request Attendance certificates
- Request Enrolment certificates
- Register and pay for the IELTS Test at British Council (and pick-up certificate)
