TOEFL Preparation
TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. If you haven’t completed your secondary or university studies in an English-speaking institution, you will probably have to take an English exam of some kind depending on the university you want to attend.
TOEFL IBT stands for Internet-based Test. The IBT is the standard test used around the world now.
The most important information needed when considering taking the TOEFL IBT test is:
Does the Western university you want to attend require a TOEFL score? And if so, How high?
Not all Western universities require TOEFL, some accept IELTS, nor do all have the same score requirements, each sets its own standards.
There are two elements which must be considered when planning to sit an English Language Exam. Students must raise their English level and develop Western test-taking skills if they want to achieve their highest potential score. Our TOEFL IBT preparation course is specifically designed to ensure that students improve their English and develop their TOEFL test-taking skills. The course focuses on developing the strategies needed to confidently sit the test in all four language skill areas: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Test practice is scheduled weekly throughout the course.
Enrolment for TOEFL Preparation classes at Global English Centre is limited because only 1 class runs per term, with a maximum of 10 students. {starts every Monday and} students may study for as many weeks as they like, however, please remember to allow a number of weeks if you need to complete the entire course. During the course students will improve the skills necessary for to excel at the TOEFL IBT examination and will become familiar with the exam format and will have the opportunity to do several practice tests.
Who is this course for?
Most students take the TOEFL IBT exam because they are applying for admission to universities in the United States or other English speaking countries especially for Masters programs. The universities use the TOEFL results to evaluate the Academic English proficiency of applicants.

Assessment
Student progress is assessed through weekly in-class TOEFL IBT practice tests at Global English Centre in the core areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Students receive a printout and test assessment shortly after completing the test each week so each knows exactly, the particular area they need to improve in.
The TOEFL IBT exam costs USD 185.00 and the final assessment is administered online at Global English Centre which is the official TOEFL test center in Sabah. Exam results are mailed to the student within 20 days or can be checked online 14 days after completing the test.

Most universities which require TOEFL IBT scores expect an overall score of between 85 – 95.
